ISO 9001:2009 Committee Draft - For Free!
The committee draft version of ISO 9001:20009 may be downloaded from ASQ's website. This is an excellent opportunity to read the changes that are being suggested by the revising committee. The download includes a copy of the committee draft of ISO 9004, which is also being revised. Keep in mind the final version may differ from the committee draft version. It will be prudent to purchase an official version when it is released in 2009. But why turn down a free copy of what is likely to be almost the same as the official version? The Appropriateness of "Weasel Words"
One trick of documenting management system procedures is choosing when to be specific, and when to be flexible so actions may be based on circumstances. A solution often employed is using phrases like, "As appropriate." Many have seen auditors cringe at these terms. Ask the Expert - Internally Auditing the ISO 9001 Requirements
Q: "ISO 9001:2000 section 8.2.2 requires my internal audits determine conformity to, '...this International Standard...' (meaning ISO 9001:2000). My internal auditors do not audit full time, and while they do a great job checking how well our procedures are followed, I'm not sure they do a very good job auditing against ISO 9001. How do I address this situation in a manner that would be acceptable during a third-party registration audit?"
