Welcome to Our Newsletter
We want to keep
the community informed about ISO 9001, management system
registration, and current events regarding quality. Our
objective is to help our clients get more from their
registration, help consultants in our community learn
what we know about the technical aspects of
registration, and convince potential clients we will
give the best value for their auditing dollar.
We would like input regarding the presentation and
content of the newsletter. Please let us know what you
would like to see in future editions. If you have an
example, article, or idea you think would benefit our
community, please pass it
along. | |
Study Reveals Consumer Opinions of ISO
9001
A study conducted in the
United Kingdom has concluded that companies registered
to ISO 9001 are perceived to provide higher quality
products and services than non-ISO 9001 registered
companies.
The study was conducted among normal
consumers, not personnel involved in
business-to-business relationships.
It appears 26% of the population were
aware of ISO 9001. As that percentage grows, so will the
perception of high quality from ISO 9001
companies.

Customer Anger
Preventable with ISO 9001
A recent Business Week article ("Satisfaction Not Guaranteed
") documents difficulties faced by
Dell, Home Depot, and Northwest Airlines as a direct
result of failures to meet customer expectations (in
some cases, expectations established by these
companies).
It is worthwhile noting commitment of
management to activities such as management review
(which includes review of process and product
conformance), analysis of data (which includes analysis
of process trends), and customer satisfaction (which
requires methods for using information regarding
customer perception) can prevent situations now faced by
these former industry
leaders. | | |
ISO 9001
Changes Coming
The ISO 9001 standard is currently being
revised by TC 176. Platinum is represented on the US TAG
to TC 176. We anticipate the changes to the standard
will be minor.
No date has been set for releasing the
revised version.
A complete list of the
recommended changes is available on our
website.
If you have any recommendations for TC
176, we are happy to pass along your ideas to the
committee. | | |
