Registrars Are Not Regulators

Customers may make registration a contingency of doing business. Top management may make registration a performance review objective. You may need registration to keep up with the competition. Despite these pressures, you are free to the registrar of your choice.

Registrars are not regulators, yet some act as though your viability is in their control.

The Requirements Are Clear

Be it ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100, TL9000, or any other standard that allows registration, the requirements are clear. They exist in one place - the source document.

Beware of "guidance," "supplementary," or, "internal requirements." Many registrars have generated these documents to compensate for a skills gap within their auditor ranks. By requiring assessment against these extraneous documents (which they often will not allow you to see), they have in effect amended the basic requirements.

Registration is about proving your company has satisfied specified requirements of a publicly available worldwide standard. Make sure your registrar hasn't tried to amended those requirements.

The requirements are clear. Skilled auditors do not need additional documents to give you a fair and thorough assessment.

Make Corporate Registration a Project

Good projects begin with the end in mind. Including a finish date, and an understanding of who will decide the goal has been reached. An effort to achieve registration is no different.

Select your registrar early - Not only will you have one major task checked off the list early in the project, but (if you select us) we'll be close by to explain the requirements as the project evolves.

Set your registration audit date early - Magic happens when a deadline is established. Since we are flexible and do not charge for rescheduling audits, if you wind up needing more time, we'll understand.

Implementation is different from maintenance - Much like your residence, different skills are required to maintain it after it has been built. So just like building a house, build it simply, build it soundly, and make it easy to maintain.
